About me:
My mother was a single mom and worked a lot. I had two younger brothers and we didn't like waiting for dinner so we all became pretty good cooks in our own way. I do wish that I would have learned more from my Grandmother before she died.

About me: I grew up cooking beside my Mother and Grandmother. They knew what good midwest home cooking was. I have passed it down to my daughter and my son-in-law has loved me for it.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed on Aug. 20, 2008 by prttimecook
My first pie crust! Perfect! Great tips from others: use butter, food processor, roll between parchment paper, chill before use, be quick so everything stays cold, and don't overwork to leave butter bits. Why have I been buying pie crusts all these years? This is WAY better, cheaper, and fast. Huh! Thanks!

Savory Deviled Eggs

Reviewed on Aug. 20, 2008 by PULLEYHEATHER
These were good, but I do think the vinegar was over powering. I did use the white wine vinegar. People ate them, but they didn't disappear like deviled eggs normally do. They were good, but I'll probably keep looking for an alternative to the usual.

Orange Crunch Cake

Reviewed on Aug. 20, 2008 by PULLEYHEATHER
This cake was a hit at my son's birthday party! He loves orange, so I put orange food coloring in there too. Very pretty. The "crunch" layer was a nice addition and the fruit on top was perfect.
