Wonderful! I am married to the one person on earth who doesn't care for Tex-Mex type stuff, and he really liked it. I halved the recipe and made some changes; omitted garlic and seasoned with a packet of taco seasoning, used green onion, and pinto beans instead of refried beans (don't care for refied beans). Also, since a two-year-old would be eating this, I used mild sauce, and regular diced tomatoes. Topped the pie with olives and sour cream, and served it with Mexicorn. I cooked the pie in a pie pan that fit the tortillas perfectly. It looked awesome and held together well. We all enjoyed it, and I can't wait to make it again. Thanks for sharing.

So so so so delicious! And filling! I made this for my boyfriend and I and really loved it! It was so easy and pretty quick to cook up. I dont like spicy things so I just substituted the peppers for more tomatoes and it came out great... reheats really well too! I passed this recipe on to a friend and she loved it too!!

Awesome! I made a vegetarian version without the ground beef. I put whole beans in the beefs place. I followed the recipe exactly after that and next time I'll turn the heat up by using "hot" Rotel instead of the "original". THIS IS A HUGE RECIPE!

UPDATE: Leftovers are just as good. It also made me think that the pie filling might be good on a Mexican pizza. Yum! Yummy, yum, yum!!! Made this for dinner tonight for my bf and I. We both really enjoyed it, even though the bf thought it to be too "beany" (but he doesn't care for beans that much anyways). I made only half the recipe since it was just for the two of us. I layered all ingredients as directed - except for omitting olives (neither my bf or I care for them) and using DOUBLE the amount of cheese (Mexican blend). My tortillas were slightly wider than the dish I used (a round Corning Ware casserole dish), but after pressing them down, they fit perfectly. I did find that the tortillas were a bit mushy (but not too bad) and that the pie needed to set for about 10 mintues before slicing in order to firm up. My bf was HUNGRY, so I served us right away and dealt with it. : ) I wonder if using two tortillas per layer would solve this problem??? Served with fiesta corn and tortilla chips for scooping! I think I might try the meat / bean mixture over nachos sometime. A very easy and delicious dish that I'm sure kids would love (just use mild chilies and taco sauce - I used the medium-heat variety). This one's going in my "keeper" file and replaces the Mexican Lasagna recipe by POPCKLGAL that I usually prepare. Thanks for sharing!

Okay, maybe I didn't make it right--that's always a possibility--but this just wasn't good... With the same ingredients, I would've rather made simple burritos. This tasted like a burrito/taco mutant with soggy tortilla.

What a great recipe. I omitted the olives as my family doesn't care for them. I also split it into two 8x8 pans and made one with cheese and one without for a friend who is allergic. It was good even without the cheese. Sooo yummy! We just ate leftovers of it and they tasted wonderful too.

Easy great recipe. I spread the refried beans on the tortillas and used much more cheese and twice the amount of black olives. The kids loved it

It stayed together relatively well, even when I cut it up. I was a little worried it would "slide" because of the cooked cheese and beans. I changed it a little bit because I don't like olives, so I used layers of salsa, cheese, two types of beans, and a stir fry of peppers and onions.

I love this recipe, it has always been a success with everyone. Instead of hamburger, however, I put in 2 tubs of the taco seasoned shredded chicken. Yummy, yummy.

I was a bit unsure of this recipe when I made it. I thought it was going to be a bit bland and boring. I was delighted when my 4 year old told me she loved it! My husband and I liked it also. I did make a few changes/additions. I made a half version with fewer layers. I used ground turkey, added some taco-like seasoning during the browning process, used green enchilada sauce instead of taco sauce and spread the beans on the tortillas. Great and easy recipe that I will make again.

HELPFUL TIPS AFTER READING ALL THE REVIEWS: I've made this for several years now & have learned a few things that have made this a 5* thanks to several reviewers. Half the MEAT but used 3/4th a can of the olives, tomatoes, and entire can of chiles. Eyeball the salsa (use enough to coat the meat). Don't be afraid to layer this with 2-3 tortillas starting at the SECOND layer b/c it makes it taste just perfect (like taco bell mexican pizza)! I sprinkle taco seasoning over the beef while it's cooking (awesome flavoring). Also, know that you'll eat more than your normal portion b/c this is so dang good! It helps tremendously to let it simmer as long as it says because the ingred. start to stick together for a nicer consistency. Apply a THIN layer of refried beans on the bottom of each new tortilla, THIN layer of meat, and buy extra cheese b/c you tend to use a lot to layer perfectly! Lastly, this made 3 thin layers of meat, cheese, refried beans w/just the right amount to add the last amount of meat on top and have enough refried beans to serve as a side (b/c you only use 1/4th of it). If you make the full amount, it freezes well, so you can use it for a quick meal! Update: I cook until edges of tortilla are not soft.

Thoroughly enjoyed this recipe. Split it up between 2 11x7 pans, and froze one. Did two layers of tortillas, meat, cheese. Definitely going into my rotation!

My kids wouldn't eat this but my husband thought it was pretty good. I may try this one again and knock down the heat a bit. It was really easy which gives this a 4-star rating instead of a 3!
